Natalia Viroga holds a degree in Visual and Plastic Arts from the Faculty of Arts, University of the Republic (UdelaR), Montevideo, where she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Art and Visual Culture. She is a graduate of the Study and Research Program in Choreographic Composition at Forumdança, Lisbon. She works as a lecturer in the Department of Aesthetics, Institute of Fine Arts, Faculty of Arts (UdelaR) and is the coordinator of Levadura, an art and education project for children. She is a member of the academic research group, Nucleus of Anthropology of Contemporary Art, of the Sectoral Commission for Scientific Research (CSIC – UdelaR). As an artist, she has presented her works at festivals and conferences in South America, North America, and Europe. She has collaborated with prominent national and international artists as a performer, assistant director, and dramaturgical accompanist. She has been a beneficiary of state funds for artistic creation, earning recognition for her artistic career from the Fund for the Incentive to Artistic Training and Creation, awarded by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay. She was recently invited by this institution to participate as a jury member for the Competitive Funds for Culture. Her research focuses on research-creation, with a focus on the politics and poetics of the body linked to the fields of performing and visual arts.
Natalia Viroga es licenciada en Artes Visuales y Plásticas por la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de la República (UdelaR), Montevideo, donde cursa actualmente una Maestría en Arte y Cultura Visual. Es egresada del Programa de Estudios e Investigación en Composición Coreográfica de Forumdança, Lisboa. Trabaja como profesora en el Departamento de Estética del Instituto de Bellas Artes de la Facultad de Artes (UdelaR) y es coordinadora de Levadura, un proyecto de arte y educación para niños. Es miembro del grupo de investigación académica Núcleo de Antropología del Arte Contemporáneo de la Comisión Sectorial de Investigación Científica (CSIC – UdelaR). Como artista, ha presentado sus obras en festivales y congresos de Sudamérica, Norteamérica y Europa. Ha colaborado con destacados artistas nacionales e internacionales como intérprete, asistente de dirección y acompañante dramatúrgica. Ha sido beneficiaria de fondos estatales para la creación artística, obteniendo un reconocimiento a su trayectoria artística a través del Fondo de Incentivo a la Formación y la Creación Artística, otorgado por el Ministerio de Educación y Cultura de Uruguay. Recientemente, esta institución la invitó a participar como jurado de los Fondos Concursables para la Cultura. Su investigación se centra en la investigación-creación, con especial atención a las políticas y poéticas del cuerpo vinculadas a las artes escénicas y visuales.
