Antònia del Río Ferrer is a Lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts and Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona (UB). Member of the IMARTE Research Group, researcher in the R&D project Situated Temporary Residencies: Paradigm Shifts in Research, Processes and Artistic Production (PID2024-161055NB-I00), and member of the Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group DRAW_RAW_GIF. Intermedia Projects: Graphic Expansions (GINDOC-UB/170). She holds a PhD in Advanced Studies in Artistic Production: Art in the Digital Age, with a dissertation entitled Revealing Structures/Activating Archives. (De)constructing and Transmitting Knowledge in and through Contemporary Artistic Practices (2000–2024). Between 2010 and 2022, she worked at EART. Centre for Mediation, Art Education and Contemporary Creation. From 2020 to 2022, she co-directed the centre and is currently a member of its board of directors. Her main areas of research and artistic practice include processes of memory and forgetting; mechanisms for the transmission and management of knowledge through the visual arts and art education, particularly in relation to documentation spaces such as libraries and archives; multidisciplinary and intermedia practices; the artist’s book; and participatory or citizen co-creation projects. As an artist, she has held solo and group exhibitions in Spain and across Europe. Her work, selected for various open calls, awards, and grants, is held in collections and archives including the MACBA Collection, Fundación Banco Sabadell, Fundación Mémora, and the Artist’s Book Collection of the CRAI Fine Arts Library at the University of Barcelona, among others.
Antònia del Río Ferrer es profesora lectora del Departamento de Artes Visuales y Diseño de la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Barcelona (UB). Miembro del Grupo de Investigación IMARTE, investigadora del I+D “Residencias Temporales Situadas. Cambios de paradigma en la investigación, los procesos y la producción artística” (PID2024-161055NB-I00), y miembro del Grupo de Innovación Docente Consolidado DRAW_RAW_GIF. Proyectos Intermedia: Expansiones Gráficas (GINDOC-UB/170). Doctora en Estudios Avanzados en Producciones Artísticas. Arte en la era digital, con la tesis “Revelar estructuras/activar archivos. (De)construcción y transmisión del conocimiento en y a través de las prácticas artísticas contemporáneas (2000-2024)”. Entre 2010 y 2022 trabajó en EART. Centro de mediación, educación artística y creación contemporánea. De 2020 a 2022 codirigió el centro y actualmente es miembro de la junta directiva de la entidad. Entre sus líneas de investigación-creación destacan los procesos de memoria y olvido, los mecanismos de transmisión y gestión del conocimiento desde las artes visuales y la educación artística, vinculados a espacios de documentación como bibliotecas y archivos, la creación multidisciplinar e intermedia, el libro de artista, así como proyectos de participación o co-creación ciudadana. Como artista ha realizado exposiciones individuales y colectivas en España y Europa. Su obra, seleccionada en convocatorias, premios y becas, forma parte de colecciones y fondos como: Colección MACBA, Fundación Banco Sabadell, Fundación Mémora, Fondo de Libros de Artista del CRAI Biblioteca Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Barcelona, entre otros.
